Weekend Update – May 7th and 8th

U11 Girls:

The U11 Girls had a great couple of games on Saturday, May 7th as they recorded their first ever wins as Cobras.   The first game was against the Samba U11 Girls and it proved to be a great start to the day.  The Cobras ended up winning 3-1 with Izzy Greene snagging a brace of goals and Frankie Forte scoring one.  It was during the first half in which Izzie Green scored both of her goals and gave the Cobras a well deserved 2-1 lead at the half.  During second half, tenacious Frankie Forte ran the ball through the Samba defense to score a great goal securing the 3-1 victory.  Goalkeeper Abby McCartney pulled off some great saves, while Natalie Ardai and the defenders played fearlessly at the back.  Nothing but a tremendous collective team effort by all the girls enabled us to secure our first victory—great job girls.

With the taste of victory still fresh in the salivating mouths of the young Cobras they proceeded to attack and to totally decimate LESC with a score of 8-1.  Izzy Greene rounded off an incredibly sublime day for her and for her team with a hat-trick and a brace!!!  Seven goals in one day—way to go Izzie!!!  The Wells sisters, Sarah and Hannah rounded of the score with three goals between them; Sarah had two, and Hannah had one.  Alex Gephart had some nice saves in goal also in first half and all of the girls played well; not only that, they all had a hooch and, all in all, a great day in the sunshine and mud was had by players, coaches, family and friends.

U12 Girls:

The 12's played a tough OP team on Saturday and ended up tying the game

2-2. The game had an incredible start to it as in the first minute Lauren Hradesky scored with an absolutely stunning shot from within the Cobras defensive half!  Within the space of only a couple of more minutes the Cobras scored another goal when Alyssa Forte latched on to a beautifully weighted cross from Coutney Favazzo.  The team played well, but somehow, OP snuck back into the game and it ended up 2-2.  Although we unfortunately lost our second game, Coutney Favazzo provided a flash of enjoyment for the Cobras when she scored our only goal.

U14 Boys:

The U14 boys played Ohio Rush and lost 4-3.  Although they did go down 3-1 they rallied back in a most spirited manner and were able to tie the game at 3-3.  The come-back goals came from Michael Hradesky with a well taken brace, and Rachel McDonald who also had a goal; the come-back was well deserved and a draw looked imminent at 3-3—however, with the clock running into the final seconds, the ref gave the most dubious of penalties enabling Rush to snag the winner.
