The U13 Boys, the U13 Girls, and the U14 Girls all had a below par time dealing with their respective opposing teams and none of the three teams were able to sustain any modicum of quality play. The twofold problems were of major magnitude and applicable to all of the teams; poor decision making, and failure to play the ball in a speedy and effective manner cost all three teams dearly. However, the silver lining was the fact that all three teams were able to get on the score sheet. The goal-scorers were David Hanselman for the U13 Boys with a well taken and strongly hit Lone Star Goal. For the U13 Girls Rosie scored a nicely take goal for the Lone Star, and for the 14 Girls Izzie secured a Brace and Tyler had a Lone Star.
The High School Girls continue to aggressively attack the ball in all thirds of the pitch and never allow the opposition to settle on the ball. This type of high pressure prevents a team from getting into any type of sustained rhythm, and the Cobra girls certainly take advantage of the attacking opportunities their style of play creates. The defensive unit had another excellent game with Kayla, the goal Keeper, playing behind some wonderful defenders, being able to give concise communication and she kept a well deserved clean-sheet. The goals came from Becca with three goals–a Hat Trick, Alyssa with a Brace, and Emily with a Brace and a Hat-Trick of assists! The final score was 7-0 in a wonderfully executed victory.
The U17 boys played to a most entertaining 9 – 9 draw against the Internationals. It was a close encounter with both teams scoring on a regular basis with neither team pulling away from the other. Although the oldest Cobra Lads’ team is low in numbers, they continue to match up against any of the opposition they face. We had two players with Hat-Tricks they were Ryan B. with three goals and Joey B. with three goals. Tommy F. was able to score a Brace, and Chandler had a Lone Star.
