The Magnificent Six
The Magnificent Six!
Every now and then a team puts in a performance which reflects such a tactical understanding of the game, and such a detailed application of the game plan, that it quite simply leaves the coaches and spectators in awe. Such was the case last Sunday when the five U14 boys and one U14 Girl put in a classic defensive counter-attacking which was beautiful to behold.
So, we began the game without substitutes. We were playing against Select who had two full lines plus two additional players. The opposing team certainly had numerous players who were very strong and I was obviously concerned. However, I discussed the game plan with the players, and owing to prior knowledge, an understanding of tactical concepts, and a disciplined application of the task ahead, the players not only competed tremendously well, they also won the game. The players involved where Anthony Rosson, Jake Josell, Jordan Bonchek, Phoebe Potiker, Michael Hradesky, and Joey Bondra. After half-time we had the help from two additional players, Rachel MacDonald and Ryan Bruno.
We were 3-1 up at half-time and the final score was 5-1. Our counter-attack goals came from Joey and Ryan with a brace each, and Michael with a solo goal. Prior to the game I told the players the game was a tactical test for them—they all certainly received an 'A' on the test! How we train players at the Cobras was totally reinforced after witnessing such a wonderful display of soccer.

U18 Girls:
A rampant set of Cobras, after a little while adjusting, soon demolished the opposition. It really was a no contest with the girls coming out with a victory of at least 10-2. Goals came from Preslie and Amber with hat-tricks, Caitlyn, Kayla, Jordan, and Elana with solo goals apiece. U16 Boys:
The U16 Boys recorded a convincing 6-3 win over Everest in a well played game by all the players. The goals came from 13 year old Michael Hradesky and Rocco Screnci with a brace apiece and Matt Simon and Ryan Bruno with solo goals.
