Weekend Round Up January 11th and 12th

Hi Folks,

It was certainly another great weekend in Cobra Town as all teams went unbeaten.

The U11/12 Girls played their last game of the winter session as they are taking the rest of the winter off owing to basketball and other events.  This weekend the girls had to play the Internationals U12’s in a rematch from the Christmas Classic Tournament final in P.A.  The problem for this game was that the 11’s had no subs and no goalie!  Anyway, with Bailey, Aubrey, and Katrina all playing magnificently in nets while sharing goalie time, and with the rest of the girls playing at the top of their game, we were able once again to beat the older Internationals; except this time it was a 5-1 victory for the Cobras!  Close to half-time Bella and Jada arrived as most welcomed reinforcements and helped the team to another great victory.  Although it is sad they will not be playing for Winter II, I am excited to work with them again in the spring.  The goals came from Mary Felicia with a Brace and Gianna, Jada, and Katrina all with wonderful Lone Stars. A wonderful effort all season long for a fun group of future stars.

The U13 Boys pulled off a resounding victory over CSA Impact with a score of 10-6.  I was able to watch the first half of the game and the team played extremely well and I saw some fabulous goals by the future Mayfield Wildcat High School Soccer Stars!  The entire team played with energy and passion and the goals came from Jake with a Hat-Trick, and Laura, Phillip, and Caleb all with a Brace apiece, and finally, Greg scored a Lone Star.  Danny exhibited tremendous distribution from the back and the entire team worked very well together in this most convincing comprehensive victory.

The U13 Girls played in the U14 Premier Division against Impact and the game ended up tied 4-4. Izzie S. had a good game in nets coming off her line on numerous occasions and making some brave saves. The team played much better than in the previous games and I was pleased with the application of some of the facets of the game we have been working on during training.  The goals came from Lizzie S, Laura, Cassidy, and Maddie.  This was a tough game and we scored a beautifully taken well-deserved equalizing goal with just 90 seconds left in the game.

The U14 Girls continued on their winning vein with a most comprehensive 8-4 victory over Select.  Although the opposition was able to get on the score sheet, the game was really totally controlled by the Cobra girls.  From the back, through to the midfield, and then again in attack the Cobras ruled all the thirds of the pitch.  Tyler had a Hat-Trick, with Jessica and Laya both with a Brace each and Izzie scoring the Lone Star.

The U15 Girls began in a most formidable manner playing against Canton United.  Owing to sundry events the team was down to a bare five players and no goalie.  As the opposing team had surplus goalies they let us use one of theirs.  The five Cobras were relentless as they beat the opposition 6-2!  The goals came from Lexi with a brace and Alyssa, Lauren, Jessie, and Soli all with Lone Stars.  All five girls were brilliant as they sustained pressure on the opposition throughout the game. Lauren and Soli were absolutely magnificent at the back and they not only continued to thwart the opposition’s attack, they were both also able to a tremendous goal each.  A most remarkable performance by the Magnificent Five!

The U17 Lads travelled down to Lodi to play the Internationals, and in an end-to-end game were eventually victorious with a 5-4 victory.  The goals came from

Michael with a brace and from Joey B. Matt, and Ryan all with Lone Stars.  We are down in numbers on this team and if you know of any 17/17 year old lads who are looking for a team please let me or Coach Derek know.
